I am, of course, not speaking of anything of substance (as this is Facebook and that never goes well on social media), but for New Year’s Eve cooking for our isolation pod of five that all had COVID-19 and, very exciting, the two friends we’ll be hosting as we are now safe.
The sourdough made it through its autolyse and is in its first rise. @[653583716:2048:Irene] is making a run for apples, I transcribed the recipes for oliebollen en appelflappen:

Dinner will be steak tartare (there’s five pounds of top sirloin in the fridge to be finely chopped), served with Julienned white pear, shallots, and capers, on toast made from the fresh sourdough bread, with Kerrygold butter of course.
I may yet get bored and make some spanakopita out of the leftover steakhouse creamed spinach, or make that a side. I may also grate some potatoes and make a slow-cooked all crisp hash browns, potatoes’ equivalent of the smashburger).
With champagne of course!
Though perhaps spending time with good friends, having good food, and enjoying good fun is of substance. I’ll leave that up to you to decide.
